Oral Surgery
Oral Surgery is needed for a wide variety of reasons - removal of a single tooth because of trauma, decay, periodontal disease, to make room for adjacent teeth or prior to orthodontic procedures. Any time a tooth is removed, it is considered a dental surgical procedure.
Almost everyone has a tooth removed at some point in their life, whether it's a primary or a permanent tooth. In your teen years third molars, or wisdom teeth, may be removed.
Oral surgery is also necessary if you are placing dental implants, if your tooth has experienced a trauma, or if gum disease isn't arrested.
We use IV Sedation to minimize the stress of oral surgery - it relieves anxiety, causes relaxation, decreases pain, and interferes with memory. Many people believe a 90 minute procedure only took 5 minutes.
